# Your own tracker + DeFi Orbit

With a public RPC and an AI assistant, you can have your own LP tracker on screen in an afternoon. Keep building it. DeFi Orbit gives it the data layer underneath: fees, PnL, impermanent loss and history for every position, calculated and kept accurate, so you can spend your time on what makes your tracker yours.

What you keep building

Your layout, your views and the strategy you are testing

The alerts, bots and automations that fit how you trade

Balances and anything below the position, such as swaps in a pool

A protocol we do not cover yet

What DeFi Orbit adds

Fees, PnL and impermanent loss for every position, already calculated

Prices at the time of every deposit, withdrawal and collection

Every protocol and chain on one schema, so your next one is a parameter

Numbers checked against the chain, with the method documented

01 / Side by side

## Your tracker, with and without the data layer

Topic

On free RPCs alone

![DeFi Orbit](/assets/logo-white.png)

Setup

A public RPC for each chain, a price API and usually a paid node for history

One API key in your app. Your RPCs stay for everything else

What your app receives

Raw contract data and event logs to turn into positions

Finished positions: token amounts, range, in-range status, fees, PnL and impermanent loss

Uncollected fees

Worked out from fee growth and tick data in your own code

Returned on every position, ready to show

PnL and impermanent loss

Rules you write, with nothing to compare them to

Calculated against holding the tokens, with a documented method you can check

Prices

Today's price from a free API

The price at every event and daily snapshot

History

Large log queries that public RPCs often limit

Daily snapshots from the day you start tracking, with every deposit, withdrawal and collection

Your next protocol

New contracts and new maths to write

Uniswap V3, Aerodrome, Orca, DeFi Tuna, Aave, Morpho, Kamino, vFat and Revert on one schema

Alerts

Your own script

Out-of-range and liquidation alerts by email or Telegram, or trigger your own from the API

Upkeep

Protocol upgrades and provider changes land on you

We maintain the infrastructure and protocols. Status is public at status.defiorbit.xyz

Cost

Free until rate limits or history, then a node plan

From 500 credits for $10, 1 to 30 credits per call, failed requests refunded

Your AI assistant

Writes RPC code to read your positions

Reads them directly through DeFi Orbit AI on the same key

02 / What the data layer covers

## Seven steps you no longer have to write

Showing a balance is one call. Showing what a position has earned and whether it is in range is this list, for every protocol and chain. The API returns all of it.

1. 01

    Find your positions

Every LP NFT and loan your wallets hold, across chains. One call per protocol.

2. 02

    Read the pool

Current price, tick and range status, so you know at a glance whether a position is earning.

3. 03

    Uncollected fees

Calculated for both tokens. This is the step most first versions get quietly wrong, and you can skip it.

4. 04

    History

Every deposit, withdrawal and collection, without crawling logs or paying for an archive node.

5. 05

    Prices at each event

What each token was worth when you deposited and collected, which is what real PnL needs.

6. 06

    The maths

PnL against holding, impermanent loss and APR, with a documented method you can check.

7. 07

    Upkeep

Protocol upgrades and provider changes are handled on our side, so your app keeps working.

03 / What it opens up

## Six things you can do with better data

Your tracker stays yours. These are the things that get easier with the numbers already done.

### Keep building what makes it yours

Your views, your strategy and your automations are the interesting part. Hand the data layer to us and spend your time there.

### Check your numbers against ours

Run the same wallet through your code and our API. Where they match, you have validated your work. Where they differ, you have found an edge case early.

### Add protocols without a rewrite

Aerodrome, Orca and lending positions come back in the same shape as Uniswap V3, so a new protocol is a parameter, not a project.

### Real history without a node bill

Every event and a daily snapshot, with prices at the time, without an archive node or a monthly provider plan.

### Alerts you can build on

Use our out-of-range and liquidation alerts as they are, or call the API and trigger your own.

### Your assistant gets better data

Point Claude or Cursor at DeFi Orbit AI and it reads your positions directly, so it writes your app instead of your RPC code.

04 / What stays yours

## What we leave to you

DeFi Orbit is the data layer, not your app. These stay with you and your RPC.

### Your interface and strategy

How you see your positions and what you do about them is your product. We do not replace it.

### Balances and raw chain data

Wallet balances, swaps in a pool and raw traces stay with your RPC, which does that well.

### Protocols we do not cover yet

Keep your own code for them, and tell us which ones you use. We add protocols as users ask.

### A quick experiment

If it runs once, build it however you like. The API is there when you want it to run every day.

05 / FAQ

## Questions builders ask

I already built a tracker. Where does DeFi Orbit fit?

Underneath it. Keep your app, your layout and your logic, and replace the part that reads and calculates positions with one API call. Everything you built stays yours.

Can I use both my RPC and your API?

Yes, and most people do. Your RPC handles balances and anything below the position; the API handles positions, fees, PnL and history.

How do I check that your numbers are right?

Run a wallet you know through both and compare position by position. The methods for PnL, impermanent loss, fees and APR are documented, so any gap has a cause you can see.

Do I have to use the API, or is there an app?

Both. Portfolio is the app, with nothing to build. The API is for when you want the same data inside your own project. Many people use Portfolio to check their own build.

What does it cost for a personal project?

Credit packs start at 500 credits for $10. Each call costs 1 to 30 credits, and failed requests are refunded, so a personal app tracking a few wallets uses very little.

Can my AI assistant use this?

Yes. DeFi Orbit AI connects to Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor on the same key, so your assistant can read your positions directly while it builds your app.

Rate limits and terms of public RPC endpoints change often and differ by chain. Check your provider's current documentation before you rely on it.
